Our Founder & History

Our Founder and History

Riverside Recovery Resources (RRR) was founded by a true visionary John P. “Jack” Ketsdever, in 1985 in Riverside, California, and was incorporated July 1, 1986. The organization’s first program was a six-bed men’s residential recovery program. Since our humble beginnings, we have grown to become one of the largest non-profit recovery service providers in Riverside County. Today, RRR provides alcohol and other drug recovery services to nearly all Western Riverside County communities with a dedicated, certified, and well-trained staff.

In 1993, RRR merged with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) to form an affiliate of NCADD. RRR currently operates Drinker Driver (DUI) programs in our Riverside and Lake Elsinore facilities, as well as an outpatient facility in Lake Elsinore.

RRR has established a ten-year strategic plan under the guidance of our Board of Directors. Riverside Recovery Resources currently serves an average of over one thousand clients each week through our out-patient programs.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive outpatient treatment and aftercare programs for all adults seeking recovery from addiction.

Our vision is to provide the tools and resources to our clients’ to help them along their life-long journey to recovery and to assist them in restoring their lives.

Our values are in alignment with the 12 step, spiritual based program we use. We have adopted the same values that shape the success of the program and provide a roadmap for lifelong recovery for those who follow it.

As we help our clients and their families transition to a life of recovery, we have set goals to help us focus on our mission, our vision, and our values. The goals we have set for ourselves are not easily achieved, but we are committed to working with our Board, our staff, our clients, our community, and healthcare professionals to meet each and every one of them:

  • To help our clients understand the physical and emotional factors of their addiction
  • To employ innovative systems in coordination with our 12-Step, spiritual based program in order to help our clients succeed.
  • To employ passionate professionals who are highly certified and have experience on navigating the road to recovery.
  • To provide tools to identify and mitigate relapse
  • To educate the community on the nature of addiction and assist in removing the stigma of this disease
